A Gallery of Ghostly Tales
October 29 Ghostbusters (1984) 1 hr 45 min. at Mary J Benson Branch
At Columbia University, Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stantz (Dan Ackroyd) and Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) delve into the paranormal. Just as they’re fired from the University, they understand the paranormal—and go into business for themselves as the Ghostbusters, ridding New York City of hauntings for a price. They get thrown in jail as the cause of all the paranormal mayhem—just as an ancient Hittite god, Gozer, is in the verge of being resurrected…at a cost of ending all of humanity. Also stars Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, and Ernie Hudson.
Nominated for 2 Oscars. None of the scenes were filmed as scripted, and almost all of the finished scenes had at least one or two ad-libs. Most of Bill Murray's lines are ad-libs. The white ghost in the Ghostbusters logo is called Mooglie.
