Family Literacy Day Author Visit - Kevin Sylvester & Ted Staunton

Family Literacy Day® is a national awareness initiative created by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 and held annually on January 27 to raise awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. Taking time every day to read or do a learning activity with children is crucial to a child’s development, improving a child’s literacy skills dramatically, and can help a parent improve their skills as well. January 27, 2019 is the 20th Anniversary of Family Literacy Day!

Join the Library's celebration on Saturday January 26 at 2 pm at the Mary J Benson Branch with zany authors Kevin Sylvester and Ted Staunton. Kevin & Ted are celebrating Family Literacy Day with their new middle grade series The almost epic squad. Thirteen year olds in Dimly Manitoba are developing weird super powers which they have to learn to control & then use to save the world.

Kevin wrote book 1 - Muscus mayhem - followed by Ted's book What blows up. The last two books will be available later in the year: Super sketchy by Lesley Livingston and Oddly irresistible by Richard Scrimger.
